Spinach Dip

Well hi!  It's been a while. Life has been pretty uneventful, but busy at the same time!! Ty and I both have been working a lot and sometimes it's hard for me to remember to be social. I never have had that problem before!! So that is kind of funny. This past long weekend was really fun. Ladan, Soraya and Tyler Johnson came up from Magrath to spend the long weekend with us. It was awesome and during all the shopping, laser tag, restaurants and late night food runs, they reminded me I have a blog. So here I am. One thing that I love to make for get togethers, family functions, or just a random hang out is SPINACH DIP! Oh boy do I ever love it! And it is so darn easy to make. INGREDIENTS 1 Cup Mayonnaise 1 Cup Sour Cream 1 Package of Vegetable Soup Mix 1 Bunch of Green Onions 1 Can of Water Chestnuts 1 Package of Chopped Frozen Spinach 1 Tsp garlic powder Salt and Pepper to taste Serve with Baguettes or French Bread INSTRUCTIONS 1. Thaw spinach in microwave...

The very key to my husbands heart!

Well hi! So it has been over a year since Ty got home from his mission.. and yes we then dated, married pretty quick and now are learning so much! I am so happy. I don't think I can even tell you in words how happy I am! It has been such an eventful and fun year for us, and I wouldn't ask for any other way or any other person to share it with. For our one year together Ty came into bed where I was laying sick and decided to read to me all of our letters and emails. Well if that didn't warm my heart I don't know what would! He is so cute. Seriously.. We have a book of all of our emails, letters and everything he has written me.. including trunky box notes  (see here) , wedding vows, and every holiday we write notes to each other. It is so nice to look back and see where this last year started, how special he has always made me feel, how we fell fast in love and how he took me to the temple :) It's kind of funny actually...  There was this one letter that caught...

Yep, we tried Borscht..... and LOVED IT!

Well hi! Holy cow, I cannot even begin to tell you how delicious this is!!! I know what you're thinking because Ty and I thought the same thing! Ewww beat soup????! Uhm.. That sounds absolutely weird. (I mean.. maybe it's just our generation?) Then I decided to be an adult and try it. My life is changed. Seriously! And do you know why? It's not only delicious but sooooo cheap! And being newlyweds it's always so refreshing to find something that doesn't break our budget. Now that it's getting a little more chilly out it will be so nice to warm up with a nice cup of borscht :) Again recipie credit to my amazing mother-in-law, Melissa who seriously amazing! And thanks mom for giving me all the vegetables from your garden. My family is the best!!!                                           Holy frig, doesn't that look nasty!? Well guess what! It's not!!! Crispy Wings

Well hi! Okay so my mother-in-law is seriously an AMAZING cook! (seriously, no pressure) She always knows how to make things healthier, more flavourful and not to mention she can always add the right amount of kick to things. Before I married into the Penitch clan, I never, EVER ate spicy food, but because of Melissa I am now exploring more options! Its fantastic! She makes everything great. The first time I went for dinner at their house she decided to make us crispy wings.. I just thought, "Oooh I love wings!" I never expected them to be so delicious! And there is a trick!!! So here it is! Delicious, Easy Slow Cooker Ribs!

Well hi! First off, I would like to thank a few people for getting me hooked on sauced meats. First Hayden and his crazy BBQ skills... brisket, ribs, fish, corn on the cob... you name it- he can BBQ or smoke it perfectly. Second Courtenay and our crazy girl's nights all you can eat sauced meat fest's. Ribs, wings, fries.. we have definitely stuffed ourselves! Well because I am very far away from these great people I still find myself craving sauced meats. So I came up with a delicious, easy rib recipe that I can make at my own home that has masked my cravings until we have more of those fun late nights with our favourite sauced meats and our favourite people. Penitch Potatoes... aka Tyler's Favourite Food

Well hi! I have been making these potatoes for a couple months... and we seriously are in love with them. Every one I have made them for asks for the  recipe!   They are so flavourful and add something different to your standard mashed potatoes! I don't think I will ever go back to peeling and mashing potatoes ever again. They are so simple and so easy! I added a few spices to a  recipe online and they are truly to die for! INGREDIENTS 2 pounds red potatoes, washed and chopped into 2-inch pieces (you don't need to peel them) 4 tablespoons butter ½ cup sour cream (or plain greek yogurt) 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 tablespoon finely chopped fresh parsley (or 2 teaspoons dried parsley flakes) ½ teaspoon dried or fresh basil ¼ teaspoon dried oregano 2 teaspoons salt 1 teaspoon pepper ¼ cup milk INSTRUCTIONS Add chopped potatoes to a greased slow cooker.
